Service and repair of the Side Air Bag Sensor Assembly starts with removing the slide door scuff plate in addition to the front door scuff plate and center pillar lower garnish and retractor of the front seat outer belt. Detach the connector from the side Air Bag sensor assembly while keeping the sensor assembly in place before unfastening the three nuts. All SRS parts required for installation must be new so the repair on any deployed Air Bag sensor and rest of the involved sensor assembly must be avoided entirely. Screw in the three side Air Bag assembly screws with a maximum torque of 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) while connecting the connector to complete assembly. The sensor assembly must be torqued to the specified value while replacing the sensor assembly if any damage like cracks or dents occurs. Always check for pinching of SRS wiring during installation and perform the loose assembly check by shaking the secured system afterward. The service procedure includes installing the cover and retractor for the front seat outer belt and eventually putting on the center pillar lower garnish front door scuff plate along with the slide door scuff plate.
