2002 Toyota Echo Brake Line Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair a brake line on 2002 Toyota Echo?
A: The first step to service brake hoses/lines is disconnecting the level warning switch connector and extraction of fluid using a syringe without allowing brake fluid to rest on painted surfaces. Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to block detached usage of manual transmission clutch hose then follow manufactured torque values of 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) to unfasten each of the 2 or 3 brake lines from its master cylinder position. The master cylinder installation requires removal of its two mounting nuts followed by extraction of both components and the gasket using 13-Nm torque (130-kgf-cm or 9-ft. lbs.). To eliminate the reservoir start by pulling off the stopper while making sure that when adhering it will pass through the master cylinder groove and the holes of the reservoir. Start by removing the reservoir followed by its two grommets after which the cap and strainer should be taken off the reservoir. The installation process requires following the reverse order of removal while adjusting the brake booster push rod length before installation and finishing with brake fluid filling in the reservoir and brake bleeding then leak inspection followed by brake pedal adjustment.
