2002 Toyota Corolla Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2002 Toyota Corolla?
A: Service and repair of the fuel injector starts with removing the No.2 cylinder head cover after unfastening both nuts and clips. After ensuring safety due to the fuel pipe line retention pressure, disconnect the fuel tube by removing its fuel pipe clamp then unconnecting its fuel tube connector from the fuel pipe. Unplug the delivery pipe and injectors by detaching the 4 injector connectors followed by taking away the 3 bolts to separate the delivery pipe with injectors and fuel pipe. After removing these components the service technician should take out the 2 spacers from the cylinder head along with extracting the 4 injectors and stripping away their O-rings and grommets from each unit. You should begin the installation process by putting grommets on each injector and applying spindle oil or gasoline to the O-rings before mounting them along with gasoline on the area where the delivery pipe meets the O-ring. The installation of four injectors begins with injector rotation during which the delivery pipes must receive the injectors after facing their connectors towards the outside. Place two spacers on the cylinder head followed by application of spindle oil or gasoline on the injector O-ring contact area before installing the delivery pipe and fuel pipe containing four injectors onto the cylinder head. The installation of hardware for delivery pipe and fuel pipe requires checking that injectors turn without difficulty before replacing the O-ring. Tighten the 2 delivery pipe bolts on the cylinder head to 18.5 N.m torque and the fuel pipe bolt to 9 N.m torque. The connection of fuel tube (fuel tube connector) to fuel pipe requires observing safety precautions followed by fuel pipe clamp installation and No.2 cylinder head cover reinstallation with two nuts and two clips.
