2001 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2001 Toyota Corolla?
A: Begin by removing the No.2 cylinder head cover through the process of detaching 2 nuts and 2 clips. Service the fuel injector by first extracting the fuel tube from the fuel pipe through a process of both unclamping the fuel pipe and separating the fuel tube connector. Caution should be used due to pressure retention in the fuel line. Take out the delivery pipe and injectors by disconnecting 4 injector connectors followed by unscrewing 3 bolts which allows removal of the delivery pipe together with 4 injectors and the fuel pipe until the 2 spacers between the cylinder head are removed to pull out the 4 injectors along with their O-rings and grommets. When installing the grommet position it on each injector followed by applying spindle oil or gasoline on new O-rings before proceeding with installation. Spread spindle oil or gasoline lightly on the delivery pipe O-ring contact areas then turn the injectors into place by gently pushing them inside the delivery pipes keeping their connectors pointed toward the outside. Position the 2 spacers on the cylinder head before applying a light coat of spindle oil or gasoline on the injector O-ring area adjacent to the cylinder head surface. Place the delivery pipe with fuel pipe to which the 4 injectors are attached onto the cylinder head. Verify that installed temporary delivery pipe bolts and fuel pipe bolt result in smooth injector rotation before replacing the O-ring. The delivery pipe should be tightened with torque settings at 18.5 N.m (189 kg.cm, 14 ft.lb) while the fuel pipe bolt requires a torque of 9 N.m (92 kg.cm, 7 ft.lb). Install the fuel tube to fuel pipe but first follow necessary safety protocols for this step before adding the fuel pipe clamp and installing both nuts and clips onto the No.2 cylinder head cover.
