- Q: How to remove and install the side Air Bag assembly on 2002 Toyota Corolla?A: Before disassembly of the side Air Bag assembly it is necessary to detach the front seat where removal of 2 seat track covers and 4 bolts will be needed followed by disconnecting the side Air Bag connector while taking care not to damage the Air Bag wire harness. The seatback assembly with side Air Bag wire harness needs installation after removing the headrest along with the reclining adjuster release handle and front seat cushion shield and inner front seat cushion shield. You should detach the side Air Bag wire harness from the wire harness protector to remove 3 hog rings and 2 additional hog rings and 4 bolts. The installation process includes first tightening four seatback assembly bolts to 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) while starting with the front right bolt then adding new hog rings correctly before properly fixing the side Air Bag wire harness to the seat cushion with the wire harness protector. After that install the inner front seat cushion shield followed by the front seat cushion shield and reclining adjuster release handle and headrest. To install the front seat position it at the extreme front and lock the seat adjuster before mounting directly to avoid contact with the seat track handle to avoid falling. Install the side Air Bag connector before torquing the rear bolts beginning at the inner side to 37 N.m and sliding the seat to the back position to tighten front side bolts reaching 37 N.m.
