2001 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Toyota Tundra?
A: The service and repair of the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor begins with draining the engine coolant. The service requires detachment of throttle body cover and intake air connector followed by disconnecting throttle body from intake manifolds by unscrewing the 2 bolts and 2 nuts while removing the gasket. The service process requires severing of ECT sensor connector which enables ECT sensor removal alongside its gasket. Put the ECT sensor into position while using a fresh gasket and tighten to 20.4 N.m (208 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) then reattach its connector. Reinstall the throttle body to the intake manifolds by putting on a new gasket and fastening the 2 bolts and 2 nuts to a torque of 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Lastly reconnect the accelerator cable. The next step is to insert the intake air connector before adding engine coolant to complete the procedure by placing back the throttle body cover.
