2001 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and reinstall a windshield on 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Begin your windshield removal procedure by uninstalling the front door opening trims along with the front pillar trim from your vehicle but ensure to tape the screwdriver tip before detaching assist grip plugs and screws on both side doors. The next step involves taking off both sun visors and double visors as well as their respective holders. You must detach the overhead console box by unscrewing its bolts and disconnecting the connector in vehicles with sliding roofs but you should remove the bolt and all related items from the overhead console box when a vehicle does not have a sliding roof. Start by uninstalling the inner rear view mirror together with wiper arms that require cap and nut removal and the hood to cowl top seal and left and right cowl top ventilator louvers. You should detach the outside moulding by drilling away the rivet flanges then heating the component before applying piano wire to slice the adhesive while protecting the body surface. The windshield glass requires a piano wire application between body and glass before securing wooden blocks to the ends and carefully cutting the adhesive to prevent damage to body paint and interior ornaments. Convert both components by applying adhesive from Part No. 08850-00801 then install new stoppers and dams before setting glass position and finishing with application of primers "M" to body areas and "G" to glass edges. Use adhesive designated as Part Number 08850-00801 to attach the glass, fasten protective tape until the adhesive reaches its set state. Immediately check for leakage then apply Part No. 08833-00030 on any detected leaks. The installer should attach adhesive to the building area then put in the upper outside moulding before using air riveter with nose piece No. 4 to join the outside moulding. Afterward replace the cowl top ventilator louvers and the hood to cowl top seal alongside the wiper arms by positioning them correctly before torquing the nuts up to 20 N.m. The reinstall process includes placing the inner rear view mirror together with the overhead console box and holders as well as double visors, sun visors, front pillar garnish, and front door opening trims by ensuring proper attachment.
