2001 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Coolant Temperature Sensor on 2001 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Starting service and repair of the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor requires professionals to drain the engine coolant from the system first. First drain the engine coolant while following next steps to remove the V-bank cover and intake air connector. After that disconnect the throttle body from the intake manifolds by disconnecting the accelerator cable followed by 2 bolt and 2 nut removal then removing the gasket. You must disconnect the ECT sensor connector before removing the sensor together with its gasket. Reinstall the ECT sensor with a new gasket according to the torque specifications of 20.4 N.m (208 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) before connecting its sensor connector. The throttle body must be reinstalled onto the intake manifolds after applying a fresh gasket and using the 2 bolts and 2 nuts that need torque to 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Reconnect the accelerator cable before completing the reinstallation. To complete the installation replace the intake air connector before filling engine coolant and finally mounting the V-bank cover.
