2001 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2001 Toyota Echo?
A: Start the fuel injector maintenance by taking out the No.2 cylinder head cover and the cylinder head cover. The first step when servicing the fuel tube involves removing its clamp followed by disconnecting the fuel tube connector which sits at the fuel pipe end while exercising caution for fuel pipe line retained pressure to prevent fuel from spilling. Start by disconnecting the 4 injector connectors followed by unfastening 3 bolts and extracting both the delivery pipe and its 4 injectors with attached fuel pipe while avoiding accidental injector drops. Disassemble the cylinder head by taking its two spacers off then draw the four injectors from their position in the delivery pipe. Finally remove the O-rings and grommets from each injector. Each delivery pipe requires a new grommet prior to installation you must apply spindle oil or gasoline lightly to the new O-rings and delivery pipe contact points then insert the injectors into their position by rotating them gently. The 2 spacers need position on the cylinder head followed by the application of spindle oil or gasoline on the injector grommet areas where the head resides. Position the delivery pipe and fuel pipe on the cylinder head with their 4 injectors inside while installing temporary delivery pipe and fuel pipe bolts. Check the injectors rotate smoothly and replace any O-rings which do not. Customers should tighten the delivery pipe bolts to 19 N.m (190 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) while fuel pipe bolt torque should reach 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Follow safety procedures during fuel tube (fuel tube connector) connection to the fuel pipe before installing the fuel pipe clamp. Wiring starts with the wire harness protector cover attachment using a bolt along with two nuts followed by PCV hose attachment to the cylinder head cover and high-tension cord connection to the ignition coils.
