2001 Toyota Celica Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2001 Toyota Celica?
A: The first step for repairing the HVAC condenser involves discharging refrigerant from the refrigeration system then evacuating the system before charging it with 430 plus or minus 30 g (15.17 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) of refrigerant while conducting a leak inspection. The service starts with unbolting and removing the front bumper before proceeding to detach the liquid tube and discharge hose using two bolts and the tubes while tightening with 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Tape the exposed tube fittings immediately to stop liquid moisture entry then apply compressor oil on two fresh O-rings before mounting them on the tubes. Detach the radiator upper mountings by removing 2 bolts together with their 2 nuts and the two upper mountings. Next pull out the condenser from the system. A condenser replacement requires 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.) of compressor oil recognized as NO-OIL 8 or an equivalent to be added inside the compressor. Installation procedures need to reverse the steps used during removal according to order.
