2002 Toyota Celica A/C Condenser Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2002 Toyota Celica?
A: The service and repair procedure starts by evacuating the refrigerant from the refrigeration system followed by air evacuation then system charging with 430 plus or minus 30 g (15.17 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) of refrigerant along with leak inspection. The work begins with front bumper removal after which the liquid tube and discharge hose get separated by unbolting two connectors and detaching both tubes using a torque setting of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Seal the exposed system fittings right away to block moisture invasion then soak two new O-rings with compressor oil before putting them on the tubes. Radiator upper mountings can be detached by means of 2 bolts together with 2 nuts and both upper mountings. Pull the condenser from its position afterward. The compressor needs an oil addition of 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.) ND-OIL 8 or an equivalent compressor oil if you replace the condenser. The process of installation follows the exact opposite sequence of uninstallation tasks.
