Service operations on an oil cooler must begin with draining engine coolant before proceeding. The service begins with removing both No.1 and No.2 oil cooler hoses before proceeding to uninstall the union bolt, gasket, oil cooler and its O-ring. Thoroughly inspect the oil cooler for damage along with clogging before performing a necessary replacement. Cleaning of the mounting contact surface on the oil cooler should be followed by O-ring installation before the application of engine oil on union bolt threads and under its head. The newly installed oil cooler unit requires application of a new gasket before it gets tightened with a union bolt to achieve 60 Nm (612 kgf-cm, 44 ft. lbs.) torque. Both hoses labeled No.1 and No.2 must be combined while adding engine coolant and starting the engine for leak verification.
