The first step to work on the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor requires disconnecting the oil cooler pipe. The process begins with disconnecting the connector and then prying off the lock washer before removing the nut that supports the park/neutral position switch. Then remove the bolt and switch from its place. Begin by tightening the new park/neutral position switch and bolt to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) before mounting the new lock plate as well as its matching nut that requires 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.) torque setting then curl the claws on the lock plate to make sure the nut stays in place. Check the engine starts only during N or P shift lever positions by reconnecting the connector and adjust if the procedure fails. Reconnect the oil cooler pipe after filling ATF while checking its level then perform a test drive of the vehicle.
