2000 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Shock Absorber on 2000 Toyota Sienna?
A: Service the suspension strut by first removing the front wheel using a torque of 104 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 77 ft. lbs.). The flexible hose bracket and ABS speed sensor wire harness clamps need to be detached from the shock absorber by nut removal at 29 Nm (300 kgf-cm, 22 ft. lbs.). The procedure starts with disconnecting the stabilizer bar link from the shock absorber followed by removing the outer front cowl top panel. Begin shock absorber with coil spring maintenance by first loosening the 2 nuts on the lower side but keep the bolts in place using 210 Nm (2,150 kgf-cm, 155 ft. lbs.) torque. Before retaping the nut it is essential to apply oil along its thread. First tighten the 3 upper shock absorber nuts to 80 Nm (820 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.) then remove them before taking out the lower nuts along with bolts. The correct suspension alignment requires rotating the support when installing the shock absorber. The front wheel alignment needs to be checked after shock absorber installation.
