2000 Toyota Sienna Brake Pad Set Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Brake Pad Set on 2000 Toyota Sienna?
A: Begin pad replacement by taking away the front tire and screwing the hub nuts onto the disc repeatedly. Check the pad lining thickness through the caliper hole with the caliper then replace the pads if their thickness drops below 1.0 mm (0.039 inch). Before securing the caliper you must hold the slidable pin on the bottom then untighten and remove the bolt before suspending the caliper with the flexible hose intact. First remove the 2 anti-squeal springs and after that remove the 2 brake pads and their accompanying 4 anti-squeal shims before the removal of 4 pad support plates. Reuse the anti-squeal springs and pad support plates only when they are free of damage, cracks and wear and have no sign of rust or dirt. Check the disc runout after extracting the pad wear indicator plate from the inner pad. Verify disc thickness simultaneously. Install new pads according to manufacturer instructions by putting them along with the anti-squeal shims and pad wear indicator plates. A pad wear indicator plate should be placed on the inner pad before applying disc brake grease onto both sides of the inner anti-squeal shims that need installation on each pad. Position the inner pad with its pad wear indicator plate facing upward and then add the outer pad while avoiding the rubbing face to come into contact with oil or grease before installing the 2 anti-squeal springs. You should extract a minimal amount of brake fluid from the reservoir before you push in the piston and possibly you need to loosen the bleeder plug for better results. Install the caliper onto the hub while holding the sliding pin and tighten the installation bolt to 34 Nm (350 kgf-cm, 25 ft. lbs.). Reinstall the front wheel by torquing it to 104 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 77 ft. lbs.). Complete the process by depressing the brake pedal multiple times then verify that the fluid reaches the maximum mark on the reservoir.
