2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The process of servicing or repairing a throttle body must start by removing the V-bank cover together with draining engine coolant. The first step includes taking off the intake air connector before untethering the accelerator cable from the throttle body. Regrettably you must remove the throttle body by first removing connections from the throttle position sensor, throttle control motor, accelerator pedal position sensor, then unhooking the accelerator pedal position sensor wire from the wire brackets' clamps. Detach the PCV hose and water bypass hose from the knee joint and proceed with the removal of the ventilation cap. The installation requires you to unscrew both bolts and nuts which will enable the throttle body to separate from the intake manifold. At the same time disconnect the water bypass hose from the manifold thermostat before removing the throttle body and its gasket. Installation requires attaching the water bypass hose to the manifold thermostat on the throttle body while using a new gasket before tightening the two bolts and two nuts to 18 Nm (185 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb). After fitting the ventilation cap you must attach the water bypass hose and PCV hose before reattaching the throttle position sensor connector as well as the throttle control motor connector and accelerator pedal position sensor connector while making sure the accelerator pedal position sensor wire stays fixed to its respective two wire brackets. Complete the reconnect of the accelerator cable to the throttle body and install the intake air connector before adding engine coolant to the system. Next start the engine to verify coolant leakage. Finally replace the V-bank cover.
