2000 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Neutral Safety Switch on 2000 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The Transmission Position Switch/Sensor service and repair process starts with removing the No.2 engine under cover and then the transmission control shaft lever. Remove the park/neutral position switch after disconnecting its connector and prying the lock washer away from the bolt. Finish the removal by unfastening the nut then taking out both bolt and switch. To install the new park/neutral position switch you must tighten the bolt first to 13 Nm and then add a new lock plate and nut with 3.9 Nm torque while bending the crush nut for stake. Secure the park/neutral position switch by adjusting its position after reconnecting the connector. Then reinstall the transmission control shaft lever by torqueing both sides to 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm) at the switch end and 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm) at the rod end. The last step includes reinstalling the No.2 engine under cover.
