2000 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Clutch Slave Cylinder on 2000 Toyota Echo?
A: Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to disconnect the clutch line while collecting fluid in a container before you remove the two bolts to access the release cylinder. Both bolts need removal to extract the release cylinder from the components. Begin by removing the bleeder plug followed by the union bolt and two gaskets and the union. The boot with push rod should be pulled out while using compressed air to assist the removal of the piston with spring but always hold the piston using a waste cloth to keep it from jumping out and preventing brake fluid splashing. Lithium soap base glycol grease should be used to coat the piston before installing the spring-loaded piston inside the cylinder followed by mounting the boot and push rod. Place the union bolt with two new gaskets and tighten it to 24.5 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft. lbs.) before torquing the bleeder plug to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). Two bolts on the release cylinder need installation before torqueing them to 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) and then using Special Service Tool: 09023-00100 to connect the clutch line and torque it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). To complete the installation you should start by adding brake fluid into the clutch reservoir and performing clutch system bleeding followed by leak inspection.
