2000 Toyota Echo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2000 Toyota Echo?
A: The refrigerant discharge process should begin by removing refrigeration system gas followed by evacuation of air units before adding 460 plus or minus 30 g (16.23 plus or minus 1.06 oz.) refrigerant then conducting leak tests. The service operation requires disconnecting both the discharge hose and liquid tube and using 2 bolts that need 5.4 Nm (55 kg.cm / 48 in.lb) torque before immediately capping open fittings because contamination from moisture or dirt should be avoided. The two new O-rings need compressor oil application prior to their installation onto the tubes. To access the radiator upper support commence by eliminating 3 hood lock set bolts simultaneously with the center brace set bolt and 2 radiator cover set clips and remove the earth wire set bolt and finally detach the connector from the hose before finally removing 6 bolts securing the radiator upper support. The condenser must be pulled upwards before extraction and adding 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) of ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil to the compressor during replacement. The installation process consists of reversing all steps used for removal. A 10 mm hexagon wrench enables users to remove the modulator cap followed by the filter and drier extraction using pliers. Keep the drier in its vinyl bag until installation. Place a new drier into the modulator while it stays inside its vinyl bag before installation with the two-layer part positioned upward. Set the filter with its protrusion pointed down inside the modulator followed by cap installation which requires ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil on O-rings and screw part of the cap before screwing with a 10 mm hexagon wrench at 12.3 Nm (125 kg.cm, 9 ft.lb) torque.
