- Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Cable/linkage on 2000 Toyota Corolla?A: Start the throttle cable/linkage maintenance by eliminating the connection between the throttle cable and throttle linkage. Begin the procedure by uninstalling the park/neutral position switch while draining the ATF with the drain plug removal and removing the valve body. The service involves removing the throttle cable that starts with plate and bolt removal to extract the cable through the transaxle case opening. Users need to bend the new throttle cable into a 200 millimeter (7.87 inch) arc before lightly tensioning the internal wire to reach completion while staking the stopper between 0.8 to 1.5 millimeters (0.031 to 0.059 inch) from the outer cable end. Fit a new O-ring to the throttle cable before pulling it inside then fasten it with the retaining bolt which needs to be tightened to 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.). First reinstall the valve body but keep the park/neutral position switch ready to go next before reattaching the throttle cable to its mount on the engine. After installing the drain plug at 49 Nm torque it is ready to receive ATF until it reaches the appropriate level. The throttle cable should also be properly adjusted according to specifications.
