You must disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle linkage to tackle throttle cable/linkage repair services on a 3-Speed A/T. The service begins by removing the park/neutral position switch followed by draining ATF from the system through the drain plug. The procedure starts by extracting the valve body and throttle cable using bolt removal along with plate removal after which the cable must be pulled from the transaxle case. A new throttle cable requires bending to 200 mm (7.87 inches) across before pulling inner cable just enough for mild resistance then securing the stopper at 0.8 - 1.5 mm (0.031 - 0.059 inch) from the outer cable end. To install the throttle cable new O-ring first install it and then pull it to its position before securing it with a retaining bolt torqued at 10 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.). The installation process requires putting back the valve body followed by the park/neutral position switch and final connection of the throttle cable toward the engine unit. After installing the drain plug with a torque of 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.) replace the ATF before adjusting the throttle cable if needed.
