• Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Injector on 2000 Toyota Camry?

  A: Initial work on fuel injector service or repair must begin through unfastening the cylinder head cover by disassembling the 4 high-tension cords that secure the cover to clamps on the cylinder head and to spark plugs simultaneously while also discharging the PCV hose from both intake manifold and cylinder head cover. The next step requires unfastening the engine wire clamp from the No.2 timing belt cover mounting bolt before taking off the cylinder head cover while ensuring the cylinder head remains covered with a clean cloth to prevent contamination. Start delivery pipe removal by detaching the 4 injector connectors and unfastening the 2 bolts which maintain the delivery pipe to the cylinder head and disconnecting the delivery pipe from the 4 injectors before gently removing the 4 injectors while taking precautions against dropping them. The 4 insulators (except California) should be removed from the cylinder head while you also need to remove the 2 spacers from the head and separately remove the 2 O-rings, insulator and grommet from each injector for California models or the O-ring and grommet from each injector for non-California models. Installation requires new grommets on each injector followed by application of gasoline to new O-rings before installing them to the injectors. Once complete, install the 2 spacers along with 4 new insulators to the cylinder head. You must install the delivery pipe while rotating the injector to the left and right before attaching each of the 4 injectors with the connectors facing upward. Check the injector movement by temporarily securing the delivery pipe bolts before proceeding to exchange the O-rings when the injectors move improperly. Screw the 2 delivery pipe bolts until they reach 13 Nm of torque (130 kg.cm, 9 ft.lb) and follow by attaching the injector connectors where No.1 and No.3 connectors are brown and No.2 and No.4 connectors are gray. To complete the procedure you must install the cylinder head cover followed by reconnecting the PCV hoses then secure the engine wire clamp before connecting the 4 high-tension cords to spark plugs which are mounted on the cylinder head cover clamps. A test for fuel leaks should be performed after successfully installing the components.
