2000 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the front control arm on 2000 Toyota Avalon?
A: Start front control arm servicing and repair by removing the front wheel while tightening it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Start by detaching the lower suspension arm from the lower ball joint through removal of its 2 bolts and nut using a torque of 127 Nm (1,300 kgf.cm, 94 ft. lbs.). First disconnect the front suspension arm by loosening bolts on the front side with 206 Nm (2,100 kgf.cm, 152 ft. lbs.) torque then removing the rear side bolt and nut with 206 Nm (2,100 kgf.cm, 152 ft. lbs.), before taking out the complete suspension arm and bushing stopper. To remove outdated bushing, employ Special Service Tools 09649-17010 and 09710-04081 together with a steel plate press but afterward install the new bushing with Special Service Tools 09238-47012 and 09649-17010 using a press. Orientation of the bushing must be precise for installation. The installation process begins by reversing all steps from removal and ends with checking the front wheel alignment.
