2000 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser on 2000 Toyota Avalon?
A: The HVAC condenser requires a service step that involves discharging the refrigerant from the refrigeration system prior to evacuation air followed by a system charge of 600 plus or minus 50 g (21.16 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) refrigerant during leak inspection. Commence by taking off the radiator and condenser fans followed by removing the two radiator upper supports. The two bolts securing the discharge hose and liquid tube should be removed yet open fittings require immediate capping to stop water or debris penetration within the system. The new O-rings need compressor oil application for lubrication before their installation on the hose assembly. Two condenser set bolts need removal before pushing the radiator towards the engine and then pushing the condenser towards the radiator to extract it upward. The new condenser requires addition of 40 degrees Celsius (1.4 fl.oz.) ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil for installation. The installation process should follow the opposite steps used during removal.
