    Q:
How to service the rear A/C expansion valve on Toyota Sequoia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of the rear A/C expansion valve begins by firstly removing the refrigerant from the refrigeration system alongside an air evacuation process and subsequent refrigerant addition of 1050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) with leak detection necessary. Engine coolant draining from the radiator will be required but you do not need to empty the entire coolant from the system. Break the A/C expansion valve replacement by removing the rear seat belt floor anchors from both sides as well as the backdoor scuff plate, rear door scuff plate on the right-hand side, upper back door garnish, rear window side garnish on the right-hand side and rear quarter trim panel RH and quarter pillar garnish RH. Yield liquid and suction tubes by replacing 2 bolts with new O-rings which requires lubrication with compressor oil. The removal process begins with detaching the 3 clips, cover and 2 air ducts before releasing the wire harness clamps and connectors. Removing the expansion valve begins by taking out its four screws and two brackets followed by slowly pulling out the packing if no damage occurs while you use a 5.0 mm (0.20 in.) hexagon wrench to uninstall the 2 bolts which require torque at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) before removing the additional 3 bolts. Users should lift the A/C unit to reach the tube and accessory before disconnecting the heat sensing tube while using a torque wrench to loosen the 2 nuts to take out the expansion valve (Nut A torque set at 13 N.m (135 kgf.cm, 10 in.lbf); Nut B torque set at 22 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 16 in.lbf)). The installation requires applying compressor oil to two new O-rings after which you should execute the steps in reverse order of removal.
