Throttle Body

Carrying out throttle body maintenance requires draining the engine coolant first. The repair process begins with cable disconnection starting with cruiser-control actuator cables for vehicles with cruise control and accelerator cables for automobiles without cruise control and different models require separation of throttle cables from automatic transmissions. Begin the throttle body removal procedure by detaching the air cleaner hose along with disconnection of the throttle position sensor connector, IAC valve connector, throttle opener vacuum hose, water bypass hose from the water bypass pipe, intake manifold water hose, and air assist hose. The installation requires removing two bolts and two nuts which secure the throttle body and gasket while applying torque to 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). When installing the gasket on the air intake chamber position the protrusion upward and execute the reassembly procedure backwards from removal order.

Reinstall the air cleaner hose and reconnect the cables, ensuring to connect the cruise control actuator cable (if applicable), the accelerator cable, and the throttle cable for automatic transmission models.

Disconnect the 2 wire clamps and loosen the air cleaner hose clamps.

Disconnect the cruise control actuator cable, then disconnect the accelerator cable.

Use a new gasket.

Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

Begin by draining the engine coolant.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

Remove the intake air connector and then proceed to remove the throttle body by disconnecting the PCV hose, EVAP hose, and, if equipped, the air hose for PS idle-up.
