Throttle Body

Fluid transmission should begin by draining engine coolant before commencing service and repair of the throttle body. Manual transmission service requires disconnecting the throttle body accelerator cable while automatic transmissions need both accelerator and throttle cable removal. First detach the air cleaner hose with resonator through clamp removal and tightening the air cleaner hose clamps. The next step involves removing the intake air connector which requires disconnecting the air hose for IAC and vacuum sensing hose and engine wire clamp. Following this, remove the connector along with its attached 2 bolts and hose clamp. The procedure requires detachment of both PCV hose and throttle body through disconnecting three vacuum hoses as well as EVAP hose and PS idle-up air hose and throttle position sensor connector and IAC valve connector. Uninstall the throttle body after removing two bolts and two nuts and keeping tightness at 20 Nm (200 kg.cm, 14 ft.lb). Lastly remove the throttle body gasket from its position. The first step when reinstalling the throttle body is applying a new gasket while also reconnecting water bypass hoses before you reattach the IAC valve air hose. When performing installation the steps should be conducted in the exact opposite sequence to removal steps.

The first step for throttle body service and repair is draining the engine coolant. The service requires disconnecting all cables with the throttle cable for automatic transmission and the cruise control actuator cable if present along with the accelerator cable. Start by disconnecting the air cleaner hose before following up with throttle body removal through the disconnecting of throttle position sensor connector, IAC valve connector, vacuum hose for the throttle opener, water bypass hose from the water bypass pipe, water hose from the intake manifold, air assist hose. Unbolt the throttle body while removing its two bolts, two nuts, gasket and actual body unit. New gaskets with the protruding section facing upward should be placed on the air intake chamber before installing the throttle body using its two bolts and two nuts torque to 18 Nm (180 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb). The installation process includes connecting the throttle position sensor connector and IAC valve connector and vacuum hose for the throttle opener and water bypass hose as well as water hose from the intake manifold and air assist hose. You should reinstall the air cleaner hose and reboot all cables including the cruise control actuator cable if available and the accelerator cable as well as the throttle cable for automatic transmission systems. To finish the process you must add engine coolant before igniting the motor to find possible coolant leaks.

The restoration and maintenance of the throttle body may be performed away from ETCS-I systems by starting coolant draining operations. Disconnect the crucial cables that include separating the cruise control actuator cable (if equipped with cruise control) and disconnecting both the accelerator cable and throttle cable (for automatic transmission). Start by disconnecting the air cleaner hose and then remove the throttle body through connector disconnections of throttle position sensor and IAC valve followed by removing throttle opener vacuum hose and water bypass pipe hose along with intake manifold water hose and air assist hose. Unbolt and remove both the throttle body along with adjacent gasket while securing this pair to a torque of 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Put a new gasket with its protrusion oriented up on the air intake chamber using the opposite order from uninstallation. A soft brush with carburetor cleaner should be used to clean the throttle body while compressed air should clean all passages and apertures keeping the throttle position sensor and IAC valve free from deterioration. The freight should receive vacuum pressure on its throttle opener while double-checking its throttle stop screw alignment with the throttle lever during total closure at 10 degrees approach angle. The inspection of the throttle position sensor requires applying vacuum to the throttle opener followed by inserting a feeler gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever before measuring the resistance between terminals using an ohmmeter.

Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.

Ensure a torque of 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) is applied.

Disconnect the 2 wire clamps and loosen the air cleaner hose clamps to take out the air cleaner and resonator together.

Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector and the IAC valve connector.

Disconnect the 2 wire clamps and loosen the air cleaner hose clamps, then remove the air cleaner along with the resonator.

Disconnect the cruise control actuator cable and then the accelerator cable.
