    Q:
How to service and repair the throttle body on Scion xA? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service work on the throttle body must start by removing engine coolant. Take off the air cleaner assembly by disconnecting all connections and wires then easing off the ventilation and fuel vapor neutral tubes before unlocking 2 hooks, loosening the clamp, and taking away the air cleaner components. Disassemble the accelerator control cable assembly first by untightening the nut. Uninstall both transmission assemblies by disconnecting electrical connections and threads and extracting the oil cooler tube clamp. Afterwards separate the bolt and oil filler tube. You can take out the throttle body by disconnecting the ISC valve and throttle position sensor connections plus removing the wire harness clamp and bolt and 2 nuts from the accelerator control cable bracket before handling the parts. Use a screwdriver to extract 3 ISC valve screws along with the gasket and afterward uninstall the throttle position sensor through its 2 screws. Install the throttle position sensor by placing it into the throttle body with the throttle valve closed and turn it clockwise 45 degrees before tightening to 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 17 in.lbf). Twist and tighten a new throttle gasket before mounting the ISC valve with 3 screws at 3.4 Nm torque (35 kgf.cm, 30 inch lbs). Attach the water bypass hoses then add a new intake manifold gasket. Secure the throttle body and accelerator control bracket with the bolt and 2 nuts which require torque to 30 N.m. Also bolt on the throttle position sensor connectors. Install the transmission oil filler tube assembly with a fresh O-ring and tighten the bolt to 5.5 N.m. Also connect the oil cooling tube hose and tube clamp. Place back the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly and the accelerator control cable assembly. Tighten them to 10 ft.lbf (133 kgf.cm or 13 N.m). Complete the installation process by attaching 3 bolts to secure the air cleaner case to its bracket while applying 7.8 N.m of torque to each bolt and attaching the air cleaner inlet to the engine compartment with a bolt at 7.5 N.m torque setting. Then add engine coolant and test for leaks.

    Q:
How to service and repair the throttle body on Scion xA? Posted by Customer
    A:
A driver should begin throttle body servicing and repairs by draining engine coolant. The air cleaner service begins with unfastening connections for the mass air flow meter connector along with VSV connector and wire harness clamp and fuel vapor feed hoses No. 1 and No. 2 and ventilation hose before unlocking the 2 clamp hooks then loosening the hose clamp to extract the air cleaner cap and filter element followed by removing the 4 bolts securing the air cleaner case. Unfasten the nut connecting parts of the accelerator control cable assembly. Separated transmission oil level gauge and oil filler tube assemblies by disconnecting throttle position sensor wire along with hose and unthreading clamp bolt and oil cooler tube but also disconnecting transmission oil pipe and its O-ring to remove. The procedure to remove throttle body assembly starts by disconnecting ISC valve connector and throttle position sensor connector (M/T TRANSAXLE) before removing the wire harness clamp and the bolt and 2 nuts to separate the accelerator control cable bracket and throttle body while also removing the gasket from the intake manifold and disconnecting water bypass hoses. Workplace requires the removal of ISC valve through 3 screw and gasket extraction followed by throttle position sensor removal operated through 2 screws. The throttle position sensor needs to be installed with closed throttle valve position while rotating it 45 degrees clockwise before tightening it to 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 17 in.lbf). Place a new gasket on the throttle body followed by installing the ISC valve through its three screws while torquing to 3.4 N.m (35 kgf.cm, 30 in.lbf). The installation involves connecting water bypass hoses while using a new intake manifold gasket before bolt and nut installation of the throttle body and accelerator control bracket which requires 30 N.m (306 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf) torque followed by wire harness clamp and throttle position sensor connector (M/T TRANSAXLE) and ISC valve connector. Connect and tighten the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly using a new O-ring, bolt, 5.5 N.m torque (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) and the oil cooler tube clamp with the bolt at 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) followed by hose and throttle position sensor connector. The technician should install the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly and then the accelerator control cable assembly while torquing both components to 13 N.m (133 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf). You will complete the air cleaner installation by using three bolts to join the air cleaner case to its bracket with 7.8 N.m torque (80 kgf.cm or 69 in.lbf) before fastening the inlet to the engine compartment using a bolt torqued to 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm or 66 in.lbf). Engine coolant addition follows then a leak check must be performed.

    Q:
How to service and repair the throttle body on Toyota Echo? Posted by Customer
    A:
The service and repair process of the throttle body requires coolant drain first as a starting point. Start by disconnecting the accelerator cable after which you should remove the air cleaner hose and cap by untightening 2 air cleaner hose clamp bolts and disconnecting the hose from the throttle body and air cleaner cap. Start the throttle body removal procedure by disconnecting the throttle position sensor connector together with the IAC valve connector and PCV hose and 2 water bypass hoses. First remove the bolt along with the 2 nuts and throttle body from the intake manifold in order to detach the accelerator bracket and throttle body before removing the throttle body gasket. Examine the throttle valve by verifying the throttle stop screw has no space with the throttle lever closed and test the throttle position sensor through resistance measurements between the terminals with an ohmmeter. The installation requires securing the throttle body and accelerator cable bracket by bolting them up with the bolt and 2 nuts while tightening to 30 N.m (305 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf). Secure the connection between the throttle body and its attached water bypass hoses and IAC valve connector and throttle position sensor connector and PCV hose. The last step consists of replacing the air cleaner hose and cap followed by engine coolant addition into the radiator.
