Angle Sensor

The installation of the steering angle sensor begins with attaching the 2 claws followed by connecting the steering angle sensor connector. The turn signal switch assembly needs installation followed by checking of the spiral cable sub-assembly. Front wheels need to face straight direction before the spiral cable sub-assembly installation. Attaching the upper steering column cover completes the installation process which is followed by installing the lower steering column cover. The installation process should begin with the assembly of the steering wheel followed by the steering pad installation before finishing with the steering wheel cover lower No. 2 and lower No. 3. Choose the negative battery terminal to attach the cable before checking for the SRS warning light activation. The technician should conduct steering angle sensor zero point calibration alongside assessment of speed sensor signals during the installation procedure. Special Service Tool: 09843-18020.

The procedure for steering angle sensor removal starts with disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal then aligning the front wheels directly forward. The first step involves removing Steering Wheel Cover Lower No. 3 followed by Steering Wheel Cover Lower No. 2. Succeeding steps involve removing the Steering Pad Assembly together with the Steering Wheel Assembly. The sequence for removal includes first removing the Steering Column Cover Lower and then the Steering Column Cover Upper. You should first remove the Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly then the Turn Signal Switch Assembly. You should finish your installation process by disconnecting the steering angle sensor connector then unclipping the two claws before taking out the Steering Angle Sensor.

All service procedures on the Steering Angle Sensor must start with the implementation of Restraint Systems Service Precautions. Detach the negative cable from the battery terminal while orienting both wheels directly forward. The necessary steps include taking off the Steering Wheel Cover Lower No.3, Steering Wheel Cover Lower No.2, Steering Pad, Steering Wheel Assembly, Lower Steering Column Cover, Upper Steering Column Cover, and Spiral Cable. Unplug the steering angle sensor connector before opening its claw mechanism to remove the steering angle sensor connector and harness. After disengaging the two steering angle sensor claws customers can remove the sensor from the system. To install this component you should attach the steering angle sensor after connecting the harness to its connector then joining both connector parts. To proceed insert the Spiral Cable followed by the Upper Steering Column Cover and Lower Steering Column Cover before adjusting the Spiral Cable. Proceed with installing the Steering Wheel Assembly while checking the steering wheel center point and add the Steering Pad followed by Steering Wheel Cover Lower No.2 and Steering Wheel Cover Lower No.3. The connection between the cable and negative battery terminal requires a torque setting of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). End your procedure with two steps: first verify the Steering Pad and then perform the initialization step together with SRS warning light verification.

First install the new steering sensor and then connect the steering sensor connector.

First, attach the 2 claws and connect the steering angle sensor connector.

Install the Turn Signal Switch Assembly.

Install the steering wheel assembly and inspect the steering wheel center point.

Remove the Spiral Cable.
