The procedure for steering angle sensor removal requires disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least ninety seconds before starting work to prevent Air Bags from activating. Systems operated by the cable might need initialization after its connection. The technician should start by removing the No. 2 Steering Wheel Cover Lower then proceed with removing the No. 3 Steering Wheel Cover Lower. The next step requires users to remove the Steering Wheel Assembly after they have taken out the Steering Pad Assembly. To continue with the removal process take off the Tilt Lever Bracket followed by the Steering Column Cover. The last step requires Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly disconnection followed by Steering Angle Sensor removal through the complete separation of 6 claws and extraction from the spiral cable.

A necessary initial step is disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by 90-second waiting time to prevent Air Bag deployment before proceeding with the Steering Angle Sensor removal. The first step includes placing front wheels in front position before removing both Steering Wheel Cover Lower No. 2 and No. 3 pieces. You must remove the Steering Pad Assembly before proceeding to uninstall the Steering Wheel Assembly. Proceed to remove the Steering Column Cover Lower and the Steering Column Cover Upper from the system. Then, detach the Spiral Cable. One must release the 6 claw fittings which allows the separation of the Steering Sensor from the spiral cable.

The first step to install VSC steering angle sensor involves removing the spiral cable sub-assembly. Freeing each of the six claw fittings will help remove the steering sensor from the spiral cable. Install the new steering sensor on the spiral cable by making sure claw fittings engage properly while keeping the components free from damage during the process. The procedure ends with spiral cable sub-assembly reinstallation.

Remove the steering wheel cover lower No.2 and lower No.3, the horn button assembly, and the steering wheel assembly using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021).

Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal, ensuring it has been disconnected for at least 2 seconds prior to reconnection, with the front wheels still facing straight ahead.

Remove the Steering Wheel Assembly.

Reinstall the steering wheel assembly and the steering pad, then inspect the steering pad.

Remove the tilt lever bracket, steering column cover, and spiral cable sub-assembly.

Remove the tilt lever bracket, steering column cover, and spiral cable sub-assembly.

Check the steering wheel center point.

Detach the Spiral Cable Sub-Assembly.

Perform initialization as certain systems require it after reconnecting the cable, and check the SRS warning light.

Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly before reinstalling it.

Install the steering pad assembly and the lower steering wheel covers (No. 3 and No. 2).

First, install the steering sensor onto the spiral cable, ensuring the claws are engaged securely without damage.

The front wheels should be facing straight ahead.

Reinstall the Spiral Cable, center it, and put back the Steering Column Cover Upper, Steering Column Cover Lower, Steering Wheel Assembly, Steering Pad Assembly, Steering Wheel Cover Lower No. 3, and Steering Wheel Cover Lower No. 2.
