Radiator Assembly

Inspecting and cleaning the radiator begins with measuring the valve opening pressure of the radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly. Use water with finger scouring to remove foreign elements from O-ring (1) while checking for deformities or fractures. You should also verify that O-ring (1) is not swollen. Use engine coolant to soak O-ring (1) and rubber packing (2) while using a radiator cap tester aimed at 30 degrees above level. Then pump the tester multiple times at the rate of one pump per second to determine maximum pressure. A radiator reservoir cap sub-assembly needs replacement when its maximum pressure falls below the minimum standard value. During on-vehicle cleaning inspect the radiator assembly to verify it and the condenser are not blocked by leaves, dirt or insects while cleaning the hose connections. You should clean blocked fins either by water washes or a steam cleaner operation while preserving enough safe distance to prevent potential damage. Use a screwdriver or pliers to straighten damaged fins before you must prevent water from coming into contact with electronic components. Use compressed air to dry the air conditioner fins.

Remove the radiator support opening cover, battery clamp, and then the battery itself.

Separate the cooler condenser from the radiator and ensure all 4 fan shroud cushions are present, then remove the fan shroud with the cooling fan.

Install the upper radiator support with 4 bolts, torqued to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf).

Remove the upper radiator support bracket by taking out the 2 bolts, then remove the radiator assembly along with the 2 lower radiator supports.
