The drive/propeller shaft service begins through dial indicator analysis of the propeller shaft and intermediate shaft to check for damage and runout measures. Maximum permitted runout levels must stay below 0.8 mm (0.031 inch) and shaft replacement is needed when this limit is exceeded. You should check spider bearing wear and damage followed by measuring axial play through yoke turning under tight shaft conditions. Maintain 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) maximum axial play specifications because excessive values indicate spider bearing replacements are required. End with a check of the center support bearing to verify free rotation because any sign of damage warrants exchanging the part.

Use the 2 mounting bolts, ensuring the drain hole faces downwards.

Coat the splines of the intermediate shaft with MP grease.
