When installing the fuel level sensor gauge assembly slide it downwards to protect the wire harness from damage while connecting its connector while avoiding any fuel level sensor gauge arm bending. The installation process first requires the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge. Proceed to attach the cable to the negative battery terminal. Complete the installation by looking for fuel leakage.

Before removing the 2ZR-FE fuel system's fuel level sensor assembly it is necessary to discharge all fuel system pressure. The cable needs disconnection from the negative battery terminal. You should remove both the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and sensor. To disconnect the fuel level sensor connector you must do it carefully so the wire harness stays undamaged. Free the lock mechanism to unlock the fuel level sensor assembly which you should slowly slide out while preventing any damage to the tip of the fuel level sensor arm.

The 4WD fuel level sensor gauge RH assembly installation requires using 5 bolts to attach it to the fuel tank with 1.5 Nm (15 kgf-cm, 13 in-lbf) torque then connecting the fuel level sensor gauge connector. You should position the 4WD fuel level sensor gauge assembly downward and avoid contact between the wire harness and avoid deforming the fuel level sensor gauge arm. The 2WD fuel level sensor gauge assembly must also be slid down before connecting its connector and verifying that the fuel level sensor gauge arm holds a direct position. The following step requires the installation of the fuel suction tube assembly to the fuel tank assembly. Check for fuel leaking while connecting the cable to the negative terminal of the battery. For the 4WD installation finish with the No. 2 rear floor service hole cover.

Disconnect the fuel sender gauge connector, ensuring not to damage the wire harness, release the lock, and slide the fuel sender gauge assembly out, taking care not to bend the fuel sender gauge arm.
