    Q:
How to service and repair the rear lower control arm on Toyota FJ Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
The repair and servicing of rear lower control arms require technicians to start by uninstalling the rear wheel. Disconnection of the parking brake cable starts with bolt removal for separation. Secure the rear axle housing before removing its bolt along with the washer and nut. Perform bolt-turning when securing the nut then remove the bolt. Remove the bolt first followed by the nut and washer after which remove the lower control arm by rotating the bolt during the process of fixing the nut. The installation process requires installing the lower control arm while briefly tightening the bolt, nut and washer according to the illustration. Install the parking brake cable to the lower control arm but maintain a torques force of 13 N m (127 kgf cm, 9 ft. lbf). Drive the rear wheel installation by securing it with 112 N m of torque (1,137 kgf cm, 82 ft. lbf). The suspension needs stability while the vehicle rests on the jack and you must bounce it several times before completion. Tighten the two bolts of the rear lower control arm until they reach 130 N m (1,326 kgf cm, 96 ft. lbf) while rotating the bolt while adjusting the nut in place.
