Front Hub

Service and repair the front wheel hub by dismantling the front disc brake cylinder along with the wheel removal followed by removing the front wheel. Check the wheel hub backlash with a dial indicator until reaching 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch); replace the bearing if the measurement exceeds this limit. The bearing needs replacement when the wheel hub deviation measurement reaches the same standard maximum limit. To remove the hub nut employ Special Service Tool: 09930-00010 which elevates the retaining tabs until the stake part unlocks without damaging the drive shaft screw. First disconnect the front speed sensor and flexible hose before extracting the brake cylinder from the steering knuckle in a manner that stops the cylinder from drooping. Remove all connecting components including the front stabilizer bar together with the lower arm sub-assembly and tie rod end sub-assembly along with the front drive shaft assembly while maintaining proper care of boot and speed sensor rotor. The technicians must use Special Service Tool: 09520-00031 to remove the front wheel assembly as well as hole snap ring and wheel hub sub-assembly along with front disc brake dust cover. To replace the front wheel hub bearing users must install the inner race on the outer race while using Special Service Tool: 09527-17011 and 09950-60010 and 09950-70010 with a press which requires the steering knuckle to maintain horizontal alignment. With tools 09950-60020 and 09950-70010 installer can introduce a new hub bearing into the steering knuckle before installing the front dust cover at 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 inch lbs). Install a new hole snap ring and apply engine oil to screw parts when reusing bolts and nuts before tightening the front wheel assembly to 132 Nm (1,350 kgf-cm, 97 ft. lbs). The drive shaft connection must not harm the outboard joint boot or speed sensor rotor when proceeding to connect the tie rod end and lower arm sub-assembly according to specified torque values. The front stabilizer bar and front disc and brake cylinder assembly must be connected while tightening the hardware to 88 Nm (897 kgf-cm, 65 ft. lbs.). To complete the repair, install the new hub nut to 2,200 kgf-cm (216 Nm, 159 ft. lbs.), use chisel and hammer to stake it, and restore the front wheel with 1,050 kgf-cm (103 Nm, 76 ft. lbs.). Then do front wheel alignment checkups and test the ABS speed sensor signal.

Measure the bearing backlash with a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub.

Check the ABS speed sensor signal.

Reconnect the ABS speed sensor connector if applicable.

Use Special Service Tool: 09520-00031 (09520-00040, 09521-00010, 09521-00020).

Install a new bearing into the steering knuckle using Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 (09951-00680), 09950-70010 (09951-07150) and a press.

Place the inner race (outside) on the bearing and utilize Special Service Tool: 09527-17011, 09950-60010 (09951-00600), 09950-70010 (09951-07150) along with a press.

Ensure not to tap it with a hammer directly, check for foreign matter on the detection portion, and press it in straight and slowly.

Check the ABS speed sensor signal.

Use a dial indicator to check the deviation outside the hub bolt, with a maximum of 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch).
