    Q:
How to service and repair the rear evaporator core on Toyota Sequoia? Posted by Customer
    A:
The service process for rear evaporator core requires refrigerant discharge followed by thoroughly evacuating the system and compression with 1050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) of refrigerant while performing leak detection. The engine coolant draining process from the radiator should proceed but complete evacuation of coolant is optional. All rear seat outer belt floor anchors along with backdoor scuff plate, rear door scuff plate RH, upper back door garnish and rear window side garnish RH, rear quarter trim panel RH, and quarter pillar garnish RH must be removed next. To secure the system from contamination use caps on both the liquid suction tube boltholes following application of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in..lbf). New O-rings need compressor oil for lubrication before their installation on the tubes. The rear A/C unit removal requires clipping off three barriers and dismantling the cover and disconnecting both air ducts and constructors before clamping the wire harnesses. Begin by loosening the screws of the expansion valve which holds two brackets and its packings before using a 5.0 mm (0.20 in.) hexagon wrench to unscrew the 2 bolts applying torque at 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in..lbf). After this rotate the 3 bolts while lifting the A/C unit to extract the tube with accessory before completing the process with tube removal. To remove the evaporator complete the steps of removing eight screws and the cover before pulling out the evaporator. The installation procedure uses the exact reverse steps which were used for removal.
