The first step to replace a faulty tube or hose in an HVAC system involves discharging the refrigerant from the refrigeration system followed by proper capping of exposed fittings. Place a cap directly over the open fittings to stop moisture or dirt from entering. Install the new component before you apply torque to the specified limit of the bolt or nut joint. Maintaining all connections within their specified torque range is essential. The specified refrigerant charge should be measured as 750 plus or minus 50 g (26.45 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) for single A/C and 1050 plus or minus 50 g (37.03 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) for dual A/C systems when charging the refrigeration system after evacuating the air. The inspection process for refrigerant leakage requires a gas leak detector and a system operation check as the last step.

For a dual A/C, use 1050 ±50 g (37.03 ±1.76 oz.).
