The input of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) should be done through the intelligent tester by using the 17-digit alphanumeric code to register it into the replacement Engine Control Module (ECM). Enter your VIN using the combination of UP DOWN RIGHT LEFT keyboard keys together with numbers on keypad from 0 to 9. Use RIGHT and LEFT buttons to move the test cursor on the display screen then enter alphabetic characters through UP and DOWN buttons before you can select numeric characters by using their matching number keys and also using the UP and DOWN buttons for alternative selection. To correct data you must position the cursor over the correct character with the RIGHT or LEFT buttons. Confirm that the entered VIN is accurate against the vehicle VIN before pressing the ENTER button. Users can access the VIN stored in the ECM by connecting the intelligent tester to DLC3 while turning the ignition switch to ON and turning on the tester interface then navigating to DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / VIN. Use the intelligent tester to write the VIN after completing the same connection and ignition procedures when making sure the ECM VIN matches the VIN of the vehicle.

Connect the 4 ECM connectors, reinstall the glove compartment door assembly, reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, and perform initialization if required.
