Rear Cable

The beginning step for No. 3 parking brake cable assembly removal from rear disc brake requires disconnecting the battery cable at the negative terminal while observing a 90-second safety period for the SRS system. Start by taking out the rear wheels before moving on to disassemble both front seat units from the left and right sides according to power seat versus manual seat configurations. The procedure requires removal of the console box assembly then the No. 2 and No. 3 belt anchor reinforcement sub-assemblies. The procedure starts by separating the parking brake equalizer unit before removing the parking brake lever assembly together with the parking brake equalizer and parking brake cable end stopper and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly. The front exhaust pipe assembly needs to be removed in vehicles with a 2ZR-FE engine while the center exhaust pipe assembly removal is necessary in vehicles with a 2AZ-FE engine. Take out the front No. 1 and No. 2 floor heat insulators by unfastening their corresponding nuts. Detach the parking brake lever protector which exists on the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly. The procedure for No. 3 parking brake cable assembly detachment requires releasing the clamp then removing the bolt and extracting it from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly while using an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base to detach the clip. You should complete the cable clamp removal process of No. 3 parking brake by unclipping the two claws.

Install the rear brake drum.

Install the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp and connect the assembly to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH, ensuring the clip is engaged properly.

Remove the rear wheel, then take out the front exhaust pipe assembly (for 2ZR-FE) or the center exhaust pipe assembly (for 2AZ-FE).
