Front Cable

Starting the cable replacement of the Torsion Beam Type Suspension requires disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and waiting at least 90 seconds to disable the SRS system. Maintenance begins with the removal of front assemblies for each side before disassembling the front console box. The service procedure starts by removing the No. 2 and No. 3 belt anchor reinforcement sub-assemblies and separating the parking brake equalizer before taking out the parking brake lever assembly and parking brake equalizer. You should begin by taking away the parking brake cable end stopper then the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly. Begin removing the rear wheel before proceeding to take out the front exhaust pipe assembly for 2ZR-FE models and the center exhaust pipe assembly for 2AZ-FE vehicles. Then extract both upper No. 1 and No. 2 front floor heat insulators and the No. 1 fuel tank protector. The operator needs to first remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly before opening its clamp with a bolt to detach this assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly. You can remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly by disconnecting a clip at its 14 mm base with an offset wrench and pulling it forward. As the final step separate the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp by unfastening its 2 claws.

Install the rear brake shoe for the rear side, the rear brake strut set, and the rear brake shoe for the front side.

Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.

Install it using 2 bolts with a torque of 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf), insert it into the body, and install another bolt with the same torque.
