How to service the sunroof or moonroof on Toyota Tacoma?

Service of the sunroof or moonroof starts with unclipping the sunshade trim before removing the lock handle and base components along with their associated 2 screws, lock garnish and 2 bolts or nuts. The lock handle and holders of extra cab models should be detached using 2 bolts but double cab models require 2 nuts during removal. Familiarize with the procedure of removing the lock base and spacer with 2 screws which need to be torqued to 6.0 N.m (60 kgf.cm, 52 in.lbf). To remove the wind deflector panel detach the clip first through small tooling operations and then use a screwdriver to separate the panel followed by operations on the opposite side. Detach the screw and auxiliary catch that hold the removable roof before you can remove the roof headlining. Detach the hinge case along with two bolts from both sides of the vehicle and tighten them to 3.5 N.m (35 kgf.cm, 30 in.lbf). Installation occurs in the exact opposite sequence compared to removal procedures.
