The process for steering wheel removal begins by aligning both front wheels forward and continuing with the torque screw removal of two torx screws from the steering wheel pad using a torx socket wrench until the screw case engages with its circumferential groove. Detach the
Air Bag connector from the wheel pad while maintaining its upper surface facing upward during storage without removing parts from the wheel pad. To remove the steering wheel first remove the steering wheel set nut and then perform matchmarking on the main shaft assembly and steering wheel before using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09950-05021). To install the steering wheel set nut users must first align matchmarks then tighten the nut to 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft. lbs.). The wheel pad installation requires brand-new Air Bag components while also requiring the wheel pad to achieve the stipulated torque measurement before investigators check for damage before connecting the connector and the Air Bag connector. The steering wheel pad installation requires the circumference groove of torx screws to catch the screw case followed by tightening the screws at 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 inch lbs.). Complete the inspection by checking the steering wheel point while performing torque sensor zero point calibration.
