Toyota MR2 Spyder Radiator Fan Relay is an electrical relay that closes the circuit connecting the cooling fan in the front when additional cooling air is required by the radiator. The Radiator Fan Relay is mounted in the 12-volt circuit in the control path of the Toyota cooling system, which reacts to signals created by the engine coolant reaching a preset temperature or by the air-conditioning system being activated so the electric fan motor can draw air through the shrouded radiator at idle or low speed. The Radiator Fan Relay ensures that the coolant temperatures stay constant and the heat does not stay in the radiator core by turning on the fan when needed, keeping the MR2 Spyder engine bay within its intended temperature range. The Radiator Fan Relay cycling assists in circulating the warm coolant in the fins, allowing heat to be given off to the passing air and preventing the possibility of overheating the engine and thus the performance of the Toyota in stop-and-go situations. The only specification mentioned concerning this part of the Toyota component is the one that combines with the Powertrain Control Module to control on-off automatically, and the description of the Radiator Fan Relay applies consistently throughout the MR2 Spyder line to avert critical thermal management in all MR2 Spyder.
