Toyota Celica Air Bag Control Module Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Air Bag Control Module on Toyota Celica?
A: The service process for the Air Bag Control Module begins by removing the lower finish panel together with lower No.1 panel, finish panel, upper console cover, console box hole cover, console box, end finish panel LH and end finish panel RH. Start by disconnecting the Air Bag Sensor connectors with the sensor assembly still in position while using a Torx wrench which is either T40, Part No.09042-00020 or a local equivalent tool to remove the three screws fastening the sensor assembly. The installation process requires a Torx wrench to tighten three Air Bag sensor assembly screws to 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) while sensor connectors should be connected only after the assembly placement. Install the sensor assembly with the set torque parameters while changing the product to a new one if it either fell during installation or presents visible damage signs. Proceed with extreme caution when installing the SRS wiring since pinching should remain avoided throughout the process. Verify the sensor assembly for loose connections by performing a shake test. Re-installation requires the end finish panel RH, end finish panel LH, console box, console box hole cover, upper console cover, finish panel, lower No.1 panel and lower finish panel in that order. New SRS components must always be used and the Air Bag sensor assembly from crash-impacted vehicles must never be reused.
