Before accessing the 2AZ-FE cooling system thermostat you must remove first both left and right front wheel opening extension pads and then both left and right engine under covers. The first step should be draining engine coolant before disconnecting the radiator hose outlet. Disconnection of the water inlet starts with removing its 2 nuts followed by separation from the cylinder block. You should first extract the thermostat and afterward detach the gasket from it.

How to install the thermostat on Toyota Camry?

Start by mounting the new gasket onto the thermostat while directing the jiggle valve upwards even though it accepts a range of positions between 0 to 10 degrees from the designated spot. You should use the provided 2 nuts to install the water inlet while torquing them to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). The radiator hose outlet should be attached followed by engine coolant addition before a leak inspection is conducted. Finish the installation by adding the engine under cover LH together with engine under cover RH and front wheel opening extension pad LH and RH.
