The first step for installing back door supports involves cleaning the vehicle body threads with non-residue solvent. The threads of the 2 bolts should receive Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324 or Three Bond 1324 or their equivalent before installing the back door upper damper stay bracket while applying 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) torque. The procedure applies to the back door lower damper stay bracket installation by cleaning its threaded point before applying adhesive then torquing it to equivalent values. During back door stay assembly installation both touching the piston rod and applying horizontal loads are prohibited because these actions may cause deformation of the rod while wearing cotton gloves results in fiber contamination. Reinstall the 2 stop rings onto the back door stay assembly before installation under manual door support until it fits snugly into the ball joint and remains secure.
