Start the alternator restoration by placing the generator drive end frame over the generator pulley and fitting the generator rotor inside the frame. Add a washer under the rotor afterward. Insert the generator coil with a 21 mm socket and press it slowly into place while securing it with 4 bolts tightened to 5.9 Nm (60 kgf-cm, 52 in-lbf). You can first push each brush into the brush holder and then place a 1.0 mm pin straight before inserting the holder through mounting the screws with 1.8 Nm torque and extracting the pin. Install the terminal insulator to the generator coil before tightening the generator rear end cover with 3 nuts at 4.6 Nm (47 kgf-cm, 41 in-lbf). You need to grip the pulley by hand before placing the generator in a vise. Then use both the Rotor Shaft Holding Tool (SST: 09820-63021) and Clutch Pulley Wrench to adjust the pulley. The proper torque reading without the Special Service Tool is 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft-lbf) and with it is 58 Nm (591 kgf-cm, 43 ft-lbf). Use a torque wrench with an extended arm of 260 mm set securely in the vise with the Rotor Shaft Holding Tool in place to tighten the frame while keeping the tool tightly held. Check if the generator pulley turns without trouble then apply a new cap onto its surface.
