2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Starter Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to reassemble the starter motor on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The beginning of starter motor reassembly starts with applying high-temperature grease to both the planetary gears and their pin parts of the planetary shaft before screwing in the 3 planetary gears. The starter center bearing clutch requires the starter armature plate to enter, while making sure the protrusion covers the notch. Start by inserting the starter yoke notch into the protrusion of the starter center bearing clutch before installing the starter center bearing clutch to the starter armature plate. The starter commutator end frame assembly requires starting with the brush holder installation followed by brushing spring retention using a screwdriver and 4 brush connection and groove alignment with the starter yoke rubber. Secure this assembly using 2 screws that need torquing to 3.8 Nm (39 kgf-cm, 33 in-lbf). Screw in the 2 starter drive housing bolts using a T30 "TORX" socket wrench after first applying high-temperature grease to the starter pinion drive lever and then attaching it to the starter center bearing clutch. Position the protrusion correctly through the notch inside the housing and then tighten the bolts to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). Use the magnet switch to hook it temporary on the upper pinion drive lever positioning then fasten 2 nuts with 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf) torque and wire the lead terminal with the nut secured at 6.5 Nm (66 kgf-cm, 57 in-lbf).
