2009 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the water pump on 2009 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The process of removing the water pump starts with removing the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly by discharging the 4 bolts. You should drain all coolant from the engine before you take out the V-bank cover. The removal of the radiator support seal upper begins with unclipping 11 fixtures. Stepping down the fan with fluid coupling requires a step that starts with unboltting its four fluid coupling fasteners. The procedure begins by removing the V belt from the fan and generator before loosening the hose clamp which allows detachment of the oil cooler hoses from the fan shroud and unfastening the radiator reserve tank hose. All this leads to removal of the 2 fan shroud bolts and radiator reserve tank bolt. Proceed by undocking the fan coupled with fluid coupling and fan shroud through 4 fluid coupling nut removal and ultimately take out the fan pulley. Detach ventilation hose No. 2 before taking off the air cleaner assembly. The water inlet removal process requires disconnecting 2 oil cooler hoses and 2 radiator hoses and 5 water by-pass hoses before removing the 5 water inlet bolts together with the O-ring from the water outlet pipe and gasket from the water pump. The procedure for removing the No. 2 idler pulley assembly always applies to both No. 2 idler pulleys before removing potential additional components of bolt and the No. 2 idler pulley cover plate and idler pulley and cover plate. The motorist should start by removing the generator assembly then proceed to separate the cooler compressor assembly and remove the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly. After removing the 17 bolts, you should take out the water pump assembly in conjunction with its gasket.
