2008 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the A/C Compressor and pulley on 2008 Toyota Yaris?
A: After discharging the refrigerant gas from the service valve the installation process of the 1NZ-FE engine air conditioning compressor and pulley requires oil adjustment by draining the correct amount of oil from the new compressor until the oil level matches the removed compressor's level. Use only ND-OIL8 compressor oil. Securely install the compressor using a bolt while primarly tightening it then finish with a torque of 25Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf) using the specified bolt sequence. Follow these next steps to install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose: remove vinyl tape, apply ND-OIL8 to new O-ring and fitting surface, place O-ring on the discharge hose and fasten it to the compressor using a bolt tightened to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf). The installation procedure must also be followed for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose. The installation of the engine under cover RH needs to be completed before connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal while applying a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). The last step includes charging refrigerant while allowing the engine to heat up before conducting a refrigerant leak inspection.
